The Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre held their official opening for the 2024/25 season on Saturday morning at Masons Lane Reserve.

Life Members, Distinguished Service members, sponsors and invited special guests were in attendance as Centre President, Sandra Ibrahim declared the 2024/25 season formally opened. Newly elected Centre Captains were announced –Boys Captain Alex Lloyd and Girls Captain Mackenzie Estlick. Alex has been a member at BMLAC for 12 years and has represented the Centre at Region and State level competition in both relays and track and field. Mackenzie has been a BMLAC member for 11 years and also represented the Centre at Region and State competitions in relays, track & field, cross country and competed in the State combined events. Mackenzie was also a member of the LAVic JDS program and represented Victoria at the ALAC Championships.

The first recipients of the Dominos Trainers of the Week were presented to Charlie Coon, Mia De Mieri and Tucker Clancy.

Once all formalities had concluded, the program commenced as athletes competed in various track & field events.

Nyah Halfhide set a new Under 11 Discus record surpassing the previous Girls Under 11 Discus record by over 4 metres. Nyah threw a new record distance of 28.55 metres.
Nyah has been selected to compete in the Little Athletics Victoria special 60 Year Region Challenge next Sunday, as part of the Western Metro Region team.

The Centre have already signed up over 200 financial members, while over 75 new athletes have taken up the 2 week free trial offer. Those athletes who have now completed their trials are encouraged to finalise their registration and join the Centre as official members.
